Hello! I am just home from ANOTHER retreat experience. After returning from 1440 Multiversity in California last Monday evening, I was home for one day, then left again on Wednesday the 19th to drive to Connecticut.
For years, I’ve been saying I want to become Board Certified in Holistic Nursing. I’ve investigated the process several times, but never actually took the plunge to move forward. This spring, I heard about a program called the Integrative Healing Arts Program in Holistic Nursing (IHAP), sponsored by the American Holistic Nurses Association. The program consists of three long weekend retreats over the next year. Combined with my practice hours at CHI Health Care, those continuing education credits will give me what I need to take the exam next fall. I knew the first retreat was right after the one for Hello Soul, Hello Business, and it was going to be quite an expense. But I decided to take the leap and go for it.
If not now, then when? We are never guaranteed any time but the present, right?
I still have so much to process about both of these retreats. My mind and heart are full of so much that needs sifting, sorting, absorbing. To be honest, I’m not even sure where to start. I took the day off today because I knew I’d need some time for “re-entry” before going back to work. It’s cloudy and drizzly here (again), and I am taking it slow today. Drinking coffee, looking at my photos, letting myself settle back into being at home with my husband, children and pets. Letting myself feel whatever I feel. I am reminding myself to remain present. To rest. To allow. To be mindful of how I want to approach the rest of my week. What energy do I want to bring to my home? To my family? Too my office? My co-workers? My patients?
I’m sure I will be writing more about all I experienced over the last week and a half, and about all I am learning. But for now, I’ll just say that so many elements from these two retreats complemented each other, spoke to the essence of who I am and what I long to bring to this world. More to come!
(I love the closing Christine Valters Painter of Abbeyofthearts.com uses, so I’m going to appropriate it. Hope she doesn’t mind!)
With great and growing love,
PS: An essay I wrote was just published in the Abbey of the Arts newsletter! Check it out here. <3
